EMERGENZA HAITI Paese poverissimo devastato da un terribile terremoto. Migliaia i morti Indicibile la sofferenza. s Tanti credenti vivono in Haiti (circa il 20% della popolazione). Tantissimi i missionari (specie statunitensi) e le agenzie missionarie fra cui, UFM/Crossworld (41), Mennoniti (22), OMSBHM/WT (Opera Battista Haitiana, vedasi sotto...) (15), GIM (12). (http://www.mnnonline.org/article/13760) E' in atto una corsa contro il tempo per offrire soccorso alla popolazione colpita. Numerose opere stanno intervenendo e le chiese locali sono ben collocate per aiutare in questo momento di confusione. (17), e due studenti nel seminario della Crossworld sono stati ritrovati senza vita. Questi sono impegnati anche in Haiti. Assieme alle chiese dell'UCBC anche IM si fa promotore di raccogliere fondi da destinare a Haiti. Special Emergency Fund In order to respond promptly to emergency humanitarian needs in Italy (for example the recent earthquake in Abruzzo and the devastating mudslides in Sicily) we have setup a special Emergency Fund. • You may send donations for the Fund, indicating specific causes if you wish • The Fund will be used EXCLUSIVELY for humanitarian needs in Italy • Funds will be disbursed to trustworthy believers or churches in or near to affected areas and there will be an accountability structure put into place in order that donors can know how the funds are being employed. • Where possible we will prefer giving substantially to one single need/project At the present time we have identified two areas of opportunity for giving: • Abruzzo Earthquake - we are in close contact with an Italian missionary living in L'Aquila and are in the process of identifying specific needs/projects which we can raise funds for and support. • Messina Mudslide - the devastation of the recent mudslide near Messina resulted in deaths and destruction of property. At least three Evangelical believers are known to have died. We are in contact with a number of individuals in the affected area and are seeking identify specific need/projects which we can raise funds for and support.
